Why Take Gymnastics?

Some experts say that the greatest benefits of gymnastics training for children are physical: the amazing power, the 'unparalleled' balance, and injury preventing agility and grace. Other experts say that the benefits are to the mind: the perseverance, the poise, the confidence, the attention to detail, the concentration. Which is right? Our experts know. The answer is, without a doubt, both. In fact, professional gymnastics training is a requisite for all kids who want to learn how to become the best they can be in life. Sound gymnastics training is for all kids.

Our Instructors
Our Instructors are professional members of USAG and are USA Gymnastics Safety Certified.  They are specially selected and trained to safely bring out the best in each child by encouraging each child.  Without question, it is our special instructors who have made Oklahoma Gold Gymnastics the #1 children's program in Edmond for 10 years!

Recreational Gymnastics Curriculum (click here to see a sample evaluation card)
Our recreational curriculum consists of 3 developmental levels.  Level 1 (beginner), Level 2 (intermediate) & Level 3 (advanced) are designed to provide a non-competitive, achievement-oriented program of basic skills and progressions.  In order to advance upward, the gymnast should pass the required points with a 75% proficiency at each event and level.  As well as skill development, conditioning and flexibility exercises are introduced as well.  We require a minimum proficiency in both of these areas to ensure a safe and successful experience.

Is advancement onto a novice competitive program available?
If a child is ready to advance out of the recreational program, we offer a more advanced program called Gold Nuggets.  It is designed to introduce girls to more advanced skills, teach them routines on all olympic events, and if they are interested, participate in intermediate level competitions.

How do I determine which class my daughter needs?
We offer class times for Levels 1 & 2 at every hour.  The majority of recreational children will fall into one of these 2 categories.  Usually a good rule of thumb is; if she has never had formal gymnastics training start with Level 1.  If she has been in our program previously, she should probably be assigned to Level 2.  Our coaching staff will evaluate each child during the first few weeks, if they feel she has been misassigned, we'll contact you.  Usually it's as easy as switching into another class during the same hour.

Are there age divisions within the levels?
Yes, we divide each level by age appropriate divisions. Levels 1 & 2 are divided; K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-up.  Levels 3 & 4 are divided; K-2nd & 3rd-up.  We may make adjustments to this policy as needed, however this is our basic formula for successful learning.

What should my child wear?
Girls should wear a leotard or shorts and a t-shirt, tucked in. For tumbling, bare feet are best. Hair should be pulled back for safety, as long hair interferes with rolling somersaulting and twisting skills. Please no gum or jewelry.  We have a nice selection of gymnastics leotards in the Flip Flop Shop.

Is there a recital at the end of the program?
All recreational students will be eligible to participate in the M&M Olympics the last week of session 4. This is our big end of the school year 'show-off' event. After demonstrating their skills, each child will climb atop the 'champions' podium and receive a trophy and 3 bags of M&M candies as a reward for all they've accomplished. Parents, Grandparents and Friends are encouraged to attend this exciting event.

Recreational Classes will not be held and you will not be charged for the following dates:
