Tumbletown Preschool

The complete Tumbletown concept was designed from the imagination of OKGold founder Steve Hoehner. The coaching staff was having trouble teaching young preschool aged children in an environment that was designed for 'older', more competitive teaching philosophies. The needs of the preschool aged child needed to be addressed, and Coach Steve plunged head first into development. His dream was finally realized in 1997 when he constructed what he envisioned as a preschool gymnastics center that looked as fun as Disneyland. Complete with streets and tunnels, zip lines and trampolines, pits and slides, mini rock walls and rope walls, balance beams and uneven bars, trapeze and ring swings, and yes children. It is definitely a one-of-a-kind, uniquely designed wonderland for preschoolers to experience the vision of a then young gymnastics coach that wanted to make a difference in their lives.
Early Years are the Most Important Years!
As parents and teachers, it is essential to remember, there is no better age to form positive learning attitudes than the preschool years. Unfortunately, as many parents find out the hard way, you simply can't turn back the clock and teach learning attitudes to a teenager. In short, we believe strongly, the learning attitudes your child acquires during their preschool years in Tumbletown have more bearing on their success than will their college education.
We Keep First Things First When Teaching Kids
Child development
experts know: for preschoolers, acquiring healthy learning skill is far more important than mastery of specific skills such as cartwheels. In Tumbletown, gymnastics skills are used as tools to instill learning attitudes while skill mastery is a secondary goal-in essence, a byproduct. In Tumbletown, we keep first things first.....kids!
Age Divisions are Critical for Learning.
We divide our Tumbletown Preschool Gymnastics program into four separate age groups. At these tender ages, we believe small age divisions are necessary in order to create just the right learning environment for each stage of a child's development. Few organizations go to this trouble but we know the children feel more comfortable and learn more in our groupings.
- "Toddlers" 18months - 2 yrs. A playful, parent/tot class centered around age appropriate developmental movements using special, tot-size apparatus with strong emphasis on socialization and group involvement. Designed as a transitional class, the 18month - 2 year group are being prepared to move into the romper group.

- "Rompers" 3 yrs. No parents needed for this age group! There are mountains to climb, rivers to swim, canyons to jump and vines to swing on. Using an amazing variety of gymnastics challenges, kids begin to gain a clear understanding of their bodies' capabilities and limitations.
- "Munchkins" 4 yrs. This age group will receive stepped-up challenges. As in all levels, we make sure each attempt is rewarded so the children associate 'trying and falling short' with what it really is a natural step in the learning process. The BIG GYM is the next stop for graduating Munchkins!

What should my child wear?
Most girls wear a leotard. A t-shirt and active wear shorts are also OK. Boys wear active wear shorts and a t-shirt. Bare feet are best as it is difficult to climb some of our 'mountains' and other stations with socks, as they slip. Hair should be pulled back for safety, as long hair interferes and can be dangerous. Please no gum or jewelry.
Is there a place for parents to watch?
We have a nice size viewing area with 40 feet of window space. Parents are encouraged to stay on site and view their child's class. Because the viewing area is located between Tumbletown and the Big Gym, parents can watch their children in both gyms at the same time.
Recreational Classes will not be held and you will not be charged for the following dates:
Thanksgiving: November 24, 2008 - November 28, 2008
