GIRLS COMPETITIVE GYMNASTICS

The AAU Competitive Gymnastics Program at Oklahoma Gold Gymnastics provides a bridge between recreational classes and competitive gymnastics. Compared to traditional competitive gymnastics, AAU offers a lower time and financial commitment while emphasizing skill development, personal growth and individual achievement. For gymnasts interested in competition, AAU is the perfect place to start.

Our In-House Competitive League is designed for gymnasts who are ready for more challenge while keeping the fun! Athletes practice twice each week, build routines on all four events and participate in exciting in-house competitions throughout the season. It's the perfect opportunity to gain competitive experience, improve skills and build confidence in a positive, encouraging environment before making the commitment to traveling competitive team gymnastics.



AAU Team

Levels: 2, 3, Gold, Platinum, Diamond

At Oklahoma Gold, our Girls AAU Team program is designed to provide a competitive gymnastics experience that is fun, encouraging and rewarding. We focus on helping every athlete build confidence, develop strong fundamentals and reach their full potential through quality coaching and progressive training. Our well-rounded program allows gymnasts to continue advancing without the demanding hours often required by many competitive programs, while enjoying the opportunity to compete in AAU meets throughout Oklahoma each season.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the AAU Competitive Team Program?

    It’s a girls competitive program designed to get girls ready to compete in the sport of gymnastics. Girls in AAU team usually practice 2-3 times a week for about 2 hours. These practices are held at our team facility (707 Centennial Blvd) with our competitive team staff.

  • Why AAU?

    A large majority of Oklahoma Clubs are offering AAU competitive programs because the participation costs are relatively inexpensive and the practice required is considerably less compared to the USAG Junior Olympic Age Group program. AAU is a good way to ease your child into competition from a recreational program.

  • My daughter is currently a Gold Nugget, where does she go from here?

    The progression upward is the AAU Competitive Team Program.

  • How does my daughter join the AAU Team?

    If your daughter is in the Gold Nugget program, more than likely she has the skill level to join the AAU Competitive Team. Contact Coach Sammie by phone at 405-341-1175 or via email at info@oklahomagoldgymnastics.com (attention Sammie) to inquire about joining the AAU Competitive Team.

  • Does the AAU Competitive Team do more advanced skills?

    It depends on what level the child is in. The AAU Competitive Team is designed to prepare athletes for competition. This means putting routines together, memorizing them and getting ready to perform them in a competitive environment. They will still do the basic skills required in gymnastics but will add difficulty to those skills as they progress.

  • Will the AAU Competitive Team Coaches let us know when our daughter is ready for competition?

    Yes, our coaching staff will speak with you after class if they would like to invite your daughter to our AAU team.

  • Describe the competitive meets they participate in?

    AAU meets will be held at gymnastics clubs around the state. Membership in AAU is required to participate. The meet schedule will consist of approximately 12 competitions a year. The entry fee is usually between $70-$80 per meet. The level of intensity is still novice in nature, and this is a good entry level competitive program for most gymnasts.

Sammie Hulbert

Program Leader

Originally from Northern California, Coach Sammie has been immersed in gymnastics for most of her life. She competed for five years, reaching Level 8, and began coaching at just 16 years old. After moving to Oklahoma in 2013, she joined Oklahoma Gold Gymnastics, where she has been coaching for more than 14 years and led the Girls Recreational Program from 2020 to 2026.


Sammie’s favorite event to coach is bars, but she also has a passion for teaching floor skills—so much so that she estimates she has taught over 1,000 roundoff back handsprings in her lifetime!


When she’s not in the gym, Sammie loves to travel and hike, always looking for her next adventure.
